LoRes 'Non-mirror' Messerschmitt Bf109G-6 "Pik-As" 5/JG53 for Emil's ETO 9th.USAAF.& 2nd.TAF Campaign

[i]This Bf109G-6 (circa: January 1944) skin is based on an aircraft of "Pik-As" 5/JG53 flown by Oberfeldwedel Herbert Rollwage stationed near Vienna-Seyring, Austria, January 1944. Oberfdl. Rollwage is credited with a final score of 70+ victories that were compiled from his service on both the Eastern and Western Fronts and was considered to be the most experienced NCO pilot of JG53.

To complete this project, I gave this dappled Grey-on-Grey camouflage paint scheme Messerschmitt national markings and structural detail attempting to be as accurate as possible with the reference material at hand. At this time JG53 Messerschmitts applied the Red 'Reichsverteidigung' (Reich Defence Bands) around the fuselage. The black portion of the Balkenkreuz (black crosses) was removed from the fuselage and top wing surface. The "Pika-As" insignia was presented on the aircraft's fuselage just forward of the wide turbo-charger air intake....

This skin carriers Rollwage's Black '2' with thin white outline, White rudder of a 'Schwarmfuhrer' and white outlined Black 2nd Group Horizontal Bar over the Red fuselage band. It is this Red Fuslage Band that also denotes II/JG53's twinning with the 'Wide Sau' II/JG301 at this juncture of the Luftwaffe's defence of the Third Reich.

The aircraft's colour scheme and markings where derived from a coloured aircraft profile plate found in the 1999 Osprey Aircraft of The Aces #29 Publication "Bf109F/G/K Aces of the Western Front" series by John Weal and the French publication Histoire & Collections "Messerscmitt Me109 Volumn2 From 1942 to 1945". All operational reference material came also from these same publications....

The original skin/model was the excellent work of Flying Sheep which was provided in Emil's ETO-TAF Skin Pack.
The 3dz. model was first done by Paulo Morais and Patrick Grand Chavin then was updated by Capt.Kurt and Olivier Menu.
The cockpit looks to be the work of Migg, the GAF ReviC/12d (orange) Gunsight by PapaRomeo.

Special thanks to Shawn Griffin for his excellent LoRes Batch File Converter Utility...

The download includes all *.tpc, *.3dz and *.pcx files. The latter begin included so you can review how the graphic techniques were done....
To install simple copy all the *.tpc and *.3dz files into your EAW main directory or as required by 'Stab' or 'Skins & More'....

Enjoy and watch your six .... Skylark
